Burglaries in the Penrith Area

Police in Penrith are urging people to report any suspicious activity following a number of burglaries in the area over the past 24 hours.

Burglaries have been reported in Brent road, Bridge Lane, Rowan Court and Laburnum Way, Penrith. All incidents were reported earlier today (22nd June).

The thieves appear to be targeting homes that are empty. These offences have occurred during the day, evening and night and often involve people entering via the back of the property. They have smashed windows to gain entry as well as damaging door locks.

Officers are appealing for information about the below incidents, which have their log reference numbers alongside them for those reporting information.

• At around 8.15am this morning, a building on Brent road was broken into. This was log 41 of the 22nd June.

• At around 5.30am this morning (22nd June) police were called to a report of a burglary in Bridge Lane, where thieves had entered via a rear window which was smashed. This was log 34 of the 22nd June.

• At around 5.22am this morning police were called to an incident of suspected burglary on Rowan Court. There were no reports of property stolen. This was log 31 of 22nd June.

• At around 3.36am this morning, police were called to an incident of burglary on Laburnum Way, Penrith. This was log 21 of 22nd June.

Police are urging people in Penrith – to be on their guard and to report any suspicious behaviour immediately. Basic home security measures can significantly reduce the possibility of your home being targeted.

• Always ensure doors and windows are locked
• Do not leave valuables in open sight
• Visible burglar alarms and security lighting deter criminals
• If you’re going away for a number of days, ask a neighbour to keep an eye on your property
