Mystery Solved

Alert message sent 04/12/2018 13:04:00

Information sent on behalf of Cumbria Police

After enquiries with Sedbergh Post office and the Royal Mail, I can confirm that is was the Royal Mail contractors that have painted the Post Box at the bottom of Deepdale Lane, Dent black and removed the door. This is to ensure that people know the mail box is disused, apparently it was just a sheet metal door not a cast iron door so this is was why it was removed.

I recall for the 2012 Olympics, the Royal Mail painted Post Boxes gold if you won a medal - I thought they may be painting this one gold for my arrival but clearly not!

Many thanks to the residents that got in touch with me over this.

Many thanks,
Maz
