Hoax Phishing Emails

Alert message sent 15/06/2018 16:28:00

Information sent on behalf of Cumbria Police

THIS IS A MESSAGE FROM CUMBRIA POLICE.

We have been made aware of a number of phishing emails being sent to residents in South Lakes entitled 'Notice of intended prosecution', from Cumbria Police. These are not sent from your local police, therefore do not open these emails they are simply a method of extracting personal information including bank details.

The emails that have been sent out will look very authentic with the Cumbria Police crest, requesting £100 fixed penalty notice for speeding in your local area.

For more information of what to look out for go to;

Please note that if you do receive a speeding fine of a fixed penalty notice, it will always be through the post.
